The Petakaris Papers
For Troublesome Souls

I babysat for my Goddaughter Abby last Friday. Her Mom forgot to tell me that she had what appeared to be a cold. So we enjoyed the Teletubbies as noted elsewhere while I wiped away her runny nose and dosed her barky cough with the medicine left by her grandmother. By Wednesday I was flat on my back, with a fever, no voice and sinuses stuffed with God knows what. Made it to the doctor on Friday only to discover that I had both a sinus infection and bronchitus. Lesson learned: ASK if the child is ill before you sit, because childhood illnesses DO NOT BELONG in adults. Today is the first day I've been able to do anything other than stare into space and pray for my next dose of antibiotics. And I'm supposed to be on a plane on Wednesday! Oy!!!

I've also discovered that here I I feel I can write what needs to be written without having to be the "nice girl" I am at my other site. My parents read my other site. 'Nuf said.

That doesn't make me a "mean girl" (ewwww) but it does let the fur fly a bit more freely.

Heh, heh, heh!

If you've never seen it, you must rent "The Wind and the Lion". It's a spectacular swashbuckling story set in Afghanistan in the early portion of the 20th century. I, like Mrs. Petakaris, am a lot of trouble. Sensitive, fair, and generally a bit demanding, there are those who concur heartily with The Lion. Nonetheless, though we are troublesome, we are also deeply and devoutly loved. It's a good combination.

I generally write for my blog over at Typepad (www.freshair.typepad.com). So why two blogs? I haven't fully reconciled the "why: as of yet. The "how" might be even tougher, but someone has to step up to the plate and half my friends are here too and I'm tired of posting "Anonymous" comments. Truth be told, being "Anonymous" just rankles someone with a strong (and difficult) sense of self. And that might just be the "why" of it right there.

Auntie Kim, over and out (for now).
